Frequently asked questions

Are these wood wall panels safe?

Yes. Our peel-and-stick panels have a Class A fire rating, while the exterior cladding and composite products are rated Class B. The composite panels are also made from 100% recycled materials with zero harmful chemicals. Our barnwood planks are low-VOC, too.

Are the wooden wall panels waterproof, or at least water-resistant?

Some are. The peel-and-stick panels are 100% waterproof, while primed white shiplap is safe to install in areas that are prone to humidity like the bathroom. Our thermally modified wood products repel moisture as well. The exception is untreated wood lines (like oak slats) - these should stay in dry interior spaces.

Can I install these panels indoors and outdoors?

Depends on the product, as some are more resilient than others. The shiplap, barnwood, peel-and-stick, and untreated hardwood panels, for example, are meant to be installed inside. We do have plenty of exterior wood cladding and composite planks for outdoor projects where moisture and UV are threats. All of these exterior siding options can be installed indoors as well, but not vice versa.

What materials are the wood panels for walls made from?

We have everything you could imagine - real wood, composite, engineered, and aluminum. The real wood line ranges from reclaimed American hardwood to kiln-dried primed hardwood, solid white oak, and thermally modified poplar and ash.

How do I care for my wood wall panels?

Many products are maintenance-free by design, so you just have to get them up on the wall and enjoy. Our exteriors are mostly designed for low maintenance, but any real wood product used outdoors will require annual inspection and possible resealing depending on your desired design aesthetic.

How much does it cost to panel a wall in wood?

It depends on the size of the wall you’re attempting to panel and the specific product you select. Boxes range from $159.99 for 25 SF of primed shiplap to $334.99 for 28 SF of composite plank cladding. The average 8’ x 10’ wall will need 3-6 boxes, which comes out to somewhere between $640 and $1,700. You can connect with our experts for a personalized quote.

How hard is it to install wood wall panels?

It’s quite simple, especially if you go with the peel-and-stick panels. Just peel the backing and press them on the wall. You may need a level and a finish nailer for some other styles, but you can get most accent wall panel projects finished within a day or so. We provide detailed installation guides for all our wood wall panels, or we can help you find a local installer.

What are the common styles for paneling a wall?

A lot of our customers love shiplap because it creates a seamless-looking horizontal line on the wall and works in just about any space. Or, you could go with slat panels for a more modern look. Barnwood panels bring a more rustic vibe to your space. The possibilities are endless at WoodPlank.

Can I get samples of the wall panels before placing a full order?

Absolutely, and we encourage you to do so because it’s the best way to see which specific panel will look best in your lighting and layout.

How quickly can I get my order of wall panels delivered?

It depends on where you’re getting your wood wall paneling shipped, but we usually deliver within 2-3 weeks. You can ask our customer service team about rush delivery options if you’re on a tight deadline.
